3/17/97:
The biggest news of the past few weeks was the discovery by Paula Trumble that the MONA MAILART SHOW had gotten a write-up in the March issue of WIRED magazine. I love this smart, funny and informative zine and had only just let my subscription lapsed because I never get away from the computer long enough to take care of stuff like that. Geez. So I went scurrying down to Barnes & Noble and thereby found a stack of WIREDs and was walking on air for a couple minutes while I read the article. The page was about Geocities and how they offer free web pages and are becoming a real neighborhood community on the Web. It went on to mention the MONA show in detail and included a couple Monas from the show...including Leo duh Fitchi's Cheesecake Mona.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all who enjoy such holidays! No green beer for me, thanks. The second gallery is already up at the
ABSOLUT E/MAILART SHOW
at Geocities! We are getting some amazing imagery and this is a show that I hope you'll spread the word about and contribute to. We're interested in receiving mailart via the USPS and via the Internet. Whichever is your pleasure.
You'll find the
Animals of the Zodiac
carvings up at Tabloid Trash and I hope to get a page of Easter images up soon, too. You'll also find numerous additions to
What's Out There
,
Leda and the Swan
Gallery and the
Roadside Pickin's Galleria
. There is also a new wing up at the
Cut N' Paste Gallery
featuring funny stuff from Lou Angel.

Happy Birthday, Red Dog! The first
ABSOLUT E/MAILART SHOW
entries are up at Geocities! I encourage you to try your hand at mailart! This is one is fun and I don't even drink. Maybe I should - I already have headaches. :)
Not much time for gabbing here today - we have company... Mickey - one of the boxers from Annie & Major's first litter and sister to Angel - is visiting for the weekend, so there's lots of yipping, yapping, running, snarfing and assorted other foolishness going on - and that's just me!
2/24/97:
Lots of silliness - I mean ART - going on around here lately in the TT galaxy. If you've never sent out a piece of mailart or e/mailart - I promise you that this is the best place and time to do it. No pressure - no stuckup people looking down their pointy little noses at you and your stuff - no judges - no cash prizes. Well, what did you expect? We aren't Dick and Ed waving a check (made out to someone other than you most likely) in your face to get you to send in your magazine order. We're just here having a good time - as you might have guessed if you've spent more than three minutes wandering around the asylum property here. Jump in! And if you have a web page or are looking for mailart connections, we'll mention that, too.
Today you'll notice some new mail calls on the front page at Tabloid Trash. The GROWING UP FAMOUS is a wide open emailart call - there are many, many previously undiscovered snapshots of the Rich & Famous in your head, we're sure. Let's see 'em!
My buddy - Red Dog - fellow redhead and migraineur - has announced her first Mailart Call! ABSOLUT MAILART - you've seen the ads and probably thought - hey, I can do that! Well, you can. If you put together a submission of the tactile type - send it along to Red Dog - and we'll look into scanning the 2D stuff for the online show. If you use bits and bytes - send your ABSOLUT ad to me here at
rclark@map.com
- preferably as a jpg or gif. If you need help figuring out how to attach an image to an email message - ask me! I can always say, "Duh?! Why you askin' me?" I'll post as many as possible here at the TT/Geocities/Smallville Funny Farm complex.

The days are getting longer here in the Northeast and I've had a sudden burst of energy. Time to take down the Twelve Days of Christmas page and start us up a new e/mailart project. I sent out an email announcement to a long list of mailart people. If I missed you - maybe you should drop me an *e* and make sure I add you to my list.
The brand new emailart call is
GROWING UP FAMOUS
... All the details are available at the
TT
front page. This gallery show is in keeping with my low-brow tabloid tastes. I'm dying to see those childhood snapshots of the *Rich & Famous*. Spare no one. :) The show will start hanging at SoHo in Geocities as soon as a couple submissions arrive in my emailbox - rclark@map.com...
Are you saying, "Boy, I could THAT!" when you scroll around here at the Tabloid Trash? Sure, you CAN. Geocities offers 2MB of free web page space to all comers. Check them out. BTW, Geocities is now the seventh most visited domain on the WWW!

Hey, I made it through another migraine tunnel and I'm back at it here at my home away from home. Been meeting some wonderful, talented people here at Tabloid Trash lately and I encourage you to drop me an email and tell me you stopped by...

ANOTHER YEAR OLDER and still hanging in here. :) How could anyone who hates snow and ice and cold as much as I do manage to be born in January in New England?
I carved this stamp for the readers of the Art Stamp Journal.
It's available in rubber from ASJ.
Contact Lynne Dahl for info:
ArtStampJ@aol.com
Was pretty excited to see my carvings and an email interview with Lynne Dahl in the latest issue of Art Stamp Journal. Lynne is devoting a considerable amount of time and space to both eraser carving and mailart. I suggest you check out an issue. To receive a sample issue of Art-Stamp Journal, send $2.00 to:

Also managed to get another new page of carvings up at
Tabloid Trash
. This one is a mixed bag of critters and folks. If you have any questions or comments about the carving information - be sure to drop me a line or two.
1/8/97:
More submissions for the
What's Out There??? Mailart Call
are up. Check out the new stuff from two more computer art wizards: Dr. Benway and Mr. Colori.
Momma's got a whole handful of fun at her house! Hooter the Boxer, who is betrothed the Scooby the Boxer, slipped up in the faithfulness department with Muffy the Staffordshire Terrier in late September and now the world sees the the result. These little guys and gals were born November 30th, and are fat & sassy and ready to go meet their new families any day now. The picture above is clickable.

Time to start getting used to writing 1997 on my checks and stuff. Yeah right, when was the last time I actually wrote a check? Even the supermarket and the pizza delivery service take a credit card now. Ah - the wonders of the Gay Nineties. Sure is getting exciting, huh? Unless you're the Unabomber and I'm pretty sure he isn't surfing in for carving tips - they won't let him have anything sharp where he is.
12/31/96:
Starting this journal in the waning hours of 1996 - the Year of the World Wide Web. At least around here it was - started Tabloid Trash Online on June 21st of this year and in six months I've fallen head over heels into the rabbit hole and wound up someplace strange, but familiar. Mailart and personal web pages have a lot in common. It's fun to put yourself "out there" and to find kindred spirits who "get it." So I end 1996 with gratitude to you who've stopped by and made my day by saying hi, or sending mailart, or sharing TT and the Mona Mailart Show via links on your page, or offering technical advice. This is a nice community to live in. :)
Just added the
Pony, ahem, Art Gallery Page
- looking for contributions - details on the page.
Got the first few contributions to the
What's Out There
e/mailart call and will put up a Gallery as soon as another few come in.
Also added the first entries to the
Dress Leda Gallery
. Please help - the poor woman has NOTHING to wear...
Happy New Year to all, and especially to Leo duh Fitchi, the cool dood who got me started on the
Mona Mailart Gallery
. As we go into the final day of the mailart call - I reluctantly admit that he worked very hard scanning and organizing more than seventy five entries and putting together the docs on the show. All I did was hang the pictures straight. But together (3000 miles apart together) we were awarded a Cool Page of the Day at Geocities in November. 1996 - a year to remember.
